Chandler Police Forensic Lab has a position open for an experienced candidate working in a laboratory setting to carry out technical evidence work with demonstrated expertise in at least one forensic discipline from the following areas: evidence collection, chemical processing, photography, or latent fingerprint processing. Some latitude is granted to the employee but work is subject to periodic performance audits and annual evaluations. The principal duties of this class are performed in a work environment in which the employee may be subject to potential personal danger. 

For applicants who are looking for a challenging position working on a team of crime scene specialists this position may interest you.  Some of the work to look forward to will be working on a variety of temporary special assignments; responding to crime scenes as technical support; processing and investigating crime scenes to record, document and collect physical evidence, including fingerprint evidence, using cameras, measurement techniques, and special physical evidence procedures; recovering and searching for latent fingerprint evidence for personal identifications; performing presumptive chemical tests to determine the presence of blood evidence; documenting and collecting any evidence and fingerprint deceased individuals; all of which will be of importance when you need to provide expert testimony relative to your work in court and other legal proceedings.  This requires entering, retrieving and searching using Arizona Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AZAFIS) and writing reports and completing all paperwork associated with crime scene investigations. 

 If you have the following qualifications this position may be for you.

 Three (3) years of experience with crime scene work at another law enforcement agency;  

An associate degree in forensics, criminalistics, chemistry or related field; and

 A valid Arizona driver’s license. 

Arizona Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AZAFIS) 10-print Certification (preferred)

Forensic Specialist; City of St. Cloud, MN

The St Cloud Police Department is seeking a qualified individual to lead the Crime Lab. Upon appointment, the Forensic Specialist will immediately become actively involved in the planning and development of the crime lab in a new police facility.

Minimum Requirements are Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Criminalistics, Physics, Criminal Justice, or equivalent; certified or eligible to become certified by the International Association for Identification (IAI) as a level I Crime Scene Investigator and in Latent Print Certification; and possession of or ability to obtain a valid Minnesota driver’s license. Also must have 2 to 3 years progressively responsible experience in a forensics or evidence lab.
